Cognition and attitude toward AIDS among residents of Cangzhou city

  • Objective To understand AIDS related cognition and attitude amongre sidents of Cangzhou city.Methods Overall 3491 residents were randomly selected and surveyed.Information on AIDS related cognition and attitude was collected with a questionnaire.Results The awareness rate of "Fouritems free of charge and one care" was 51.2%-60.2%.About 16.5% of the subjects knew that AIDS patients are allowed to get married.A bout 37.5% of persons knew that AIDS patients activities should not be restricted and 35% thought that AIDS patients could work together with them.23.3% of the subjects permitted their children studying together with AIDS patients children.Conclusion The residents had lowa wareness on AIDS related cognition and tended to discr iminate against AIDS patients.
