Influenec of Lycium barbarum polyccharides on learning and menory function and protein kinase C in hippocampus in lead-exposed mice

  • Objective To explore the influence of Lycium barbarum polyccharides(LBP)on learning and memory function and the content of protein kinase C(PKC)in hippo campus of lead-exposed mice.Methods The mice were divided randomly into five groups:control group,lead-exposed model group,high-,mid-and low-dosage LBP groups.The LBP groups were fed with different do sage of LBP since the second day of the lead exposure.Blood-lead concentration,time of reaching water maze platformat 2nd and 4 th week,and the concentration of PKC in hippo campuswrere detected.Results Compared with lead-expo sure model group,the blood-lead concentrations of the mice in LBP groups was lower (0.65±0.28-0.11±0.13 mg/L vs 0.68±0.19mg/L)and the tmie of reaching at the platform was less.The concentration of PKC in LBP groups(73.23±6.52-96.33±8.03 mmol/L)was higher than that of in lead-explsed model guoup (62.26±7.21 mmol/L).All the diffenrences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion LBP promotes the discharge of lead and improves learning and memory function,and inhibits PKC decrease in hippocam pusin lead-exposed mice.
