Occupational stress, coping style and mental health among school teachers

Objective To research the relations between occupational stress and coping style and mental health among school teachers.Methods Occupational stress,coping styles and mental health scale were examined in 394 middle and elementary school teachers taking part in a short-term training.Results There was a significant diffenrence in mental health status and occupationd stress between middle and elementary school teachers(P<0.001).There was an interaction between gender and school type formental health(P<0.001)and occupational stress(P<0.01)among the teachers.There was a close relation between occupational stress and mental health and coping style(r1=0.202,P<0.01,r2=0.102,P<0.05).Coping style and occupational stress were perdicting factors for the teacher spmental health.Conclusion More attention should be paid to the occupational stress and mental health,and coping styles should be considered.
