General physicians’attiude and clinical practice toward depression patients in primary care

  • Objective To investigate genaral physicians.(GPs)attitude and clinical practice toward depression patients in prmiary care.Methods Overall 295 GPs in the prmiary care settings of Hang zhou city were recruited,and the Depression Attitude Questionnaire(DAQ)and the clinical practice form were used to measure their attitude and clinical practice toward depression patients.Results Among the GPs,59% agreed with that/During the last 5 years,I have seen an increase in the number of patients with depressive symptom s0,only 8% of them disagreed with the view.60% of GPs preferred psychological consultation/therapy rather than drugs for the treatment of depression;most of GPs felt unease when they delt with patients with depression.Conclusion There are still a big gap between GPs.a ttitude toward depression and GPs.future role in the prevention and treatment of depression in the prmiary care settings.It is very important to train GPs on the skill and knowledge about depression.
