Effect of intervention on improving total obedience rate among tuberculosis suspects in university students

ObjectiveTo evaluate the feasibility of improving total obedience rate of TB suspects through cooperation between university hospital and local TB control dispensary under the management of directly observed short-course therapy (DOTS)bsaed on national TB control plan.MethodsFive universities randomly selected as intervention group form seventy universities were matched to 5 universities as control and the intervention was carried out.ResultsObedience rate,referral obedience rate,tracing rate,tracing obedience rate,and total obedience rate increased by 52.6%,41.6%,50.0%, 30.2%,and 47.5%,respectively,in intervention group while tho serates were stable around 40%-50% in control group.Compared with that of the control group,changes of referral rate,referral obedience rate were statistical significant except for tracing obedience(P=0.39).ConclusionSignificant increase of total obedience rate shows effectiveness and feasibility of the cooperation bewteen local TB control dispensary and univisites.
