Lipoprotein lipase gene D8S282 is associated with development of ischemic stroke

  • Ob jective To investigate the relationship between lipoprote in lipase gene D 8S282 variation and the occurrence of ischemic stroke.MethodsThe study subjects(n=361)were Han Chinese from Guandong,China. The controls were matched to cases by sex and 5-year age group.D 8S282 variation was detected with Beckman CEQ 8800.Multiv ariable unconditional logistic regression was used to calculate odd ratios(OR)and 95% confidence intervals(CI)for the assoc iation between D 8S282 polym orphisms and ischemic stroke.ResultsD 8S282 19 GT repeats allele was more frequently expressed in controls(6.37%)than in the patients(3.19%)with a significant association after adjustment for conventional risk factors(OR=01538).ConclusionLipoprote in lipase gene D 8S282 may be associated with the development of ischemic stroke.
