Influence of noise on learning memory behavior in immature rats

ObjectiveTo observe the effect of noise exposure on capability of learning and memory in immature rats.MethodsForty-eight SD mimature rats were divided randomly into two groups,noise group and control.The rats in noise group were exposed to noise(80 dB1A 2)8 hours a day for one month.The capability of learning and memory of the rats was measured with Morris water maze and shuttle box.ResultsInfix navigation of Morris water maze test, the average escape latency of the rats in the noise group was longer than that of in the control group(P<0.01)and the percentage of efficient strategy of the rats in the noise group was lower(P<0.01).In espace search of Morris water maze test, the average escape latency of the rats in the noise group was longer than that of in the control group(P<0.01)and the frequency to bestride platform and the retention time in archi-platform quadrant of the rats in the onise group were less than that of in the control group(P<0.01).In the shuttle box test, the freguency of active avoidance response of the rats in the noise group was lass than that in the control group(P<0.01)and the passive avoidance response latency of the rats in the noise group was longer(P<0.01).ConclusionNoise impairs the capacity of learning and memory in immature rats.
