Lead and cadmium pollution of animal products from areas along traffic road

  • ObjectiveTo study lead and cadmium pollution of animal products from areas along traffic road and its related factors.MethodsSamples of animal product from areas along Longyan domestic 319 federal highway were collected and detected for lead and cadmium contents based on national standard method.ResultsThe lead and cadmium contents of 7 kinds of animal product in contaminated zone were between 0.0025-0.0686 mg/kg and 0.00005-0.00522mg/kg with the means of 0.0227mg/kg and 0.00137mg/kg,respectively.The means were 3.15 and 5.48 times higher than that of samples from control areas.The lead and cadmium contents were different between meats of different ducks with a descending order of red painted-face duck,water duck,aborigines duck.The lead and cadmium distributions in animal tissues were mibalanced.The lead contents of chicken bone,duck bone,rabbit bone were 130.28,353.48,139.68 times higher than that of the meat, respectively.The cadmium contents of duck bone,rabbit kidney were 17.40 and 2641.06 times higher than that of the meats,respectively.The lead and cadmium contents were not related to different feeding method and the distance between farming area and traffic road.ConclusionThe animal products from areas along traffic road are polluted with lead and cadmium.The lead and cadmium contents vary greatly in different tissues and organs of the animal exposed to the pollution.
