Abstract
Objective To study the characteristics of farm-related injuries among rural residents of Daur ethnic group to provide preventive measures of farm-related injury.Methods A multistage sample of 1.07 farmers was selected from 9 villages of 4 rural towns.Face-to-face interviews in the farmers were conducted by the surveyors.Farm-related injury occurred between 2007 May to 2008 April and the relevant information were collected.Results The incidence rate of farm-related injuries was 11.4%,and the incidence rate of farm-related injury accidents was 22.9%.The incidence rate of rural residents between aged 25 to 55 (13.2%) ranked first.Main external reasons of the injuries were mechanical accidents bys truck,crushed,jammed or pinched,contact with knife,sword or dagger,accounting for 57.7% of all accidents.The total indirect economic loss of the accidents was 230 225 RMB yuan.Conclusion Some in te rvention measures for farm-related injury should be carried out among adult farmers.The economic loss and outcome of the injury should be considered.
