Knowledge,attitude and behavior related to AIDS/STD among rural residents in Guangzhou

Objective To understand the status of knowledge,attitude and behavior related to AIDS/STD among rural residents,and to provide scientific basis for carrying out health education.Methods Questionnaire in terview was conducted in residents aged from 18 to 60 years in 10 villages selected with random cluster sampling method.Results A total of 1748 people were investigated(1007 men57.60%,734 women42.0%,with anerage age of 39 years).The awareness rate (60 percentile points above)of AIDS/STD was 56.61%.There were only 25.8% of respondents like to communicate with AIDS patients and 63.2% people would like to offer help.49.1% of the respondents didnt report the use of condom when having sex in the previous year.Conclusion The rural residents lack the of AIDS/STD.A small number of rural residents are at high risk of AIDS/STD infection.
