Abstract
Objective To explore the effect of dietary fiber on the elimination of manganese and other trace elements. Methods Forty eight three week old male SD rats were randomly divided into sixgroups:control group(group A),group with supplement dietary fiber in diet(group B),Mn treatment group(group C),group with treatment of Mn+ 16% fiber in feed(group D),group of Mn+ 8% fiber in feed(group E),and group of Mn+ 4% fiber in feed(group F).The ratswere sacrificed after one month treatment. The change of weight,24 hour manganese content in stool,Mn,Cu,Fe,and Zn contents in brain, liver tissue and blood were determined. Results Compared with the group C(20.87%),24 hour discharge ratios of manganese of in stool of group D and E(29.44%,28.49%)were increased(P<0.05).Mn contents in bra in and liver tissue and blood in groug A(1.37 μg/g,1.78 μg/g,0.24 μg/ml),group D(1.62 μg/g,2.73 μg/g,0.35 μg/m l),group E(2.24 μg/g,2.54 μg/g,0.37 μg/m l),and group F(2.57 μg/g,2.70 μg/g,0.38 μg/ml)were decreased compared to group C(3.59 μg/g,3.22 μg/g,0.48 μg/ml; P<0.01).Cu,Fe and Zn contents in the of brain, liver tissues and blood of the rats had no significant difference among all groups(P>0.05).Compared with group A(35.99%),the change of weight ratio was decreased in groups C and F(25.98%,27.03%;P<0.05).Conclusion Die tary fiber may decrease manganese accumulation by increasing the discharge of Mn in stool.
