Compliance of antihypertension therapy among hypertension patients in rural areas

  • ObjectiveTo investigate the compliance of antihypertension therapy(CPAT)and to explore influence factor of hypertension treatment among hypertensives in rural areas.MethodsTotally 378 hypertension patients at ages of 35-75 years and wtih history of antihypertensive medicine usage were investigated with self-filling querstionnaire.The data about general condition,physical examination,CPAT and awareness of hypertension prevention knowledge were collected and analyzed.ResultsThe rate of good CPAT was 11.90%.Compared to poor CPAT group,the rate of treatment and regular drug-taking under the guide of doctors were significantly higher among patients with good CPAT.The mean score of knowledge of hypertension control among the patients was 8.61±4.96;among patients with poor CPAT the score was 8.47±4.96 and among patients wtih good CPAT the score was 9.64±4.88.The ratio of patients knowing the overweight and high salt diet being main risk factors of hypertension were higher in good CPAT group than that of in poor CPAT group.ConclusionCPAT is very low among the hepertensives in rural areas.Health education should be strengthened to improve the CPAT,the rate of treatement and control of hypertension.
