Relationship between suboptimal health status and risk factors of cardiovascular diseases

  • ObjectiveTo study the relationship between suboptimal health status(SHS)and risk factors of cardiovascular disease.MethodsThe subjects were recruited in Beijing Xuanwu hospital. The suboptimal health status questionnaires-25(SHSQ-25)were distributed and the serum cortisol, blood pressure, blood glucose and lipid were measured. The study population was classified into two groups by a total SHSQ-25 score of 35 as the cut-off point.Variance analysis was used to compare serum cortisol, blood pressure, blood glucose and lipid between the two groups.Structural equation model (SEM)was used to confirm the relationships between the variables.ResultsAmong the 812 subjects, the SHS group had a higher level of systolic blood pressure(SBP),fasting blood glucose(GLU),total serum cholesterol(TCH)and low density lipoprotein(LDLC)than the control group(P<0.05).The fit indices shown by the SEM analysis were reasonable with goodness of fit index=0.998 8,adjusted goodness of fit index=0.993 6,and residue mean square root=0.429 8(95% confidence interval:0.388 3,0.472 8).ConclusionSHS is correlated to some risk factors of cardiovascular disease.
