Suicide attitude and its influential factors among medical graduates

  • ObjectiveTo investigate suicide attitude and its influential factors among medical graduates and to provide reference information for suicide intervention.MethodsFreshmen,sophomores and junior master students in medicine of two medical colleges in Jiangxi province were selected with cluster sampling and surveyed with questionnaires including Symptom Checklist-90(SCL-90),Social Support Scale,Simple Coping Style Questionnaire,and Suicide Attitude Questionnaire.ResultsMost medical graduates held contradictory or neutral attitude toward committing suicide with a score of 2.833±0.305.Family history of suicide,total average score of SCL-90,social support,and score of negative coping and positive coping were included in the suicide regression equation of different dimension.ConclusionImportant influencial factors for suicide attitude are gender,social support,mental health,and attitude on life.
