Effect of self-discipline education in HIV prevention among migrant population in Anguo city, Hebei province

  • ObjectiveTo evaluate the effectiveness of self-discipline education on HIV prevention.MethodsA total of 243 migrants were involved in the self-discipline education.The self-discipline awareness of the subjects were measured by before and post questionnaire survey.SAS 9.1 was applied to analyze the data.ResultsThe rate of willing to persuade peers not to visit sex workers increased from 12.76% to 69.55% (χ2=128.67,P<0.0001).The ratio of the migrants recognizing the risk of sexually transmitted disease in commercial sex increased from 42.56% to 95.04% (χ2=123.12, P<0.0001).ConclusionThe self-discipline education should be applied as part of HIV prevention strategy and health promotion strategy among migrant population.
