Cognition of influenza A (H1N1) of male residents in Dongying rural areas

  • ObjectiveTo explore cognition of influenza A(H1N1)among rural men in Dongying city,Shandong province for effective health promotion.MethodsThe samples were randomly selected with stratified sampling method.A self-made questionnaire survey was carried out among the residents from 54 villages.ResultsFor 943 questionnires distributed,880(93.32%)eligible questionnaires were collected.The age of the participants was 15-87 years with an average age of 47.73±15.06 years.The average score on influeza A knowledge was 5.49±4.54.The correct answer rates for typical symptom,route of transmission,incubation period,self-preventive measure,treatment measure were less than 50%.The elderly,the participants with lower eduation level and the less publicity and education on health concerns had lower score of influenza A knowledge.ConclusionThe cognition to influena A(H1N1)is low among male residents of Donging city.The porpaganda and education to the public on influena A epidemic should be strengthened.
