Abstract
ObjectiveTo investigate the knowledge of cancer prevention and control among population in high-incidence area of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region,and to provede evidence for early screening and treatment of HCC.MethodsThe socio-demographic characteristics of subjects and their know ledge on cancer risk factors,preventive measures and warning symptoms,as well as the early symptoms,screening and treatment methods of HCC were surveyed with a questionnaire.ResultsAmong 2 095 subjects,1 541(73.6%)knew liver,lung,and stomach cancer;909(43.4%)knew that drinking unclean pond water frquently was a risk factor of HCC and 1 443 (68.9%)knew that regular consumption of moldy grain was correlated with the incident of HCC.For all subjects,only 72 (3.4%)knew the early symptoms of HCC.The number of subjects willing to participate in early sereening of HCC was 1 829(87.3%).The main reason for the subjects un-willing to participate the screening was "not know ing the benefits of the screening"(832,39.7%).ConclusionThe awareness rate of cancer risk factors and prevention measures among the residents in high-incidence area of HCC in Guangxi are generally low.
