Relationship between internet addiction and time management disposition among college students

  • Objective To explore the relationship between internet addiction and time management disposition and to provide basis for internet addiction imtervention among college students.Methods Wiht Chinese Internet Addiction Scale(CIAS) and Youth Time Management Disposition Scale(ATMD),1 100 college students selected from five colleges in three cities in Zhejiang province were surveyed.Results Correlation coefficient of internet addiction and time management disposition was-0.306(P < 0.01).We retrospectively analyzed the survival-related factors and found a negative correlation between internet addiction and the sense of time efficacy with a standardized regression coefficient of-0.323.The average score of internet addiction of the students spending less than 30 hours per week on internet was 50.74 and that of spending more than 30 hours per week was 56.43 with a significant difference between the two groups(P < 0.01).Conclusion Internet addiction and time management disposition are negatively correlated.The sense of time efficacy can predict internet addiction well.College students should control the time spending on internet reasonably.
