Prevalence and risk factors of non-communicable chronic diseases among community residents in Tianjin

Abstract
Objective To investigate the prevalence of non-communicable chronic diseases and its risk factors among community residents in Tianjin.Methods By stratified cluster random sampling,2 335 residents aged over 18 years were selected.The subjects' socio-economic factors,prevalence of chronic diseases,and related life behavior factors were investigated.The data were analyzed with logistic regression.Results The prevalence of non-communicable chronic disease was 33.96%(33.89% for male and 34.03% for female) and the prevalence increased with age.The diseases with top ten prevalences were hypertension(21.60%),diabetes(7.64%),coronary heart disease(5.76%),cerebral infarction(1.67%),cerical spondylosis(0.87%),prolapse of lumber intervertebral disc(0.72%),osteothritis(0.64%),cerebral thrombosis(0.60%),cerebral hemorrhage(0.44%),and cholelithiasis(0.40%).The results of the logistic regression showed that age,smoking,overweight,obesity,and family history of chronic disease were risk factors of non-communicable chronic diseases.Conclusion Prevalence of chronic diseases increase with the increasing of age.We should pay attention to the groups who were smoking,overweight,obesity,and those with family history of chronic disease.
