Job burnout and its influencing factors among coal dust exposed workers

  • Objective To explore the status of job burnout and its influential factors among coal dust exposed workers. Methods Maslach Burnout Inventory-General Survey(MBI-GS) was used to investigate 2 055 coal dust exposed workers. Results Workers in larger coal mines, with longer duration of underground work, longer dust-exposed duration, and longer dust-exposed time per day had much more heavy burnout(P< 0.05).The predictor variables of exhaustion included job fatigue(std b=0.188,P< 0.001),respiratory symptoms(std b=0.134,P< 0.001),benefits satisfaction (std b=0.124,P< 0.001),and social status of the job(std b=0.116,P< 0.001).The predictor variables of cynicism were social status of the job(std b=0.157,P< 0.001),benefits satisfaction (std b=0.151,P< 0.001),exposure years (std b=0.112,P< 0.001),and exposure time per day(std b=0.093,P< 0.001).The predictive variables of professional inefficacy were monthly personal income(std b=-0.096,P< 0.001),size of the firm (std b=0.095,P< 0.001),and opportunities to participate in recreation(std b=-0.082,P< 0.001).Conclusion To relieve job burnout of dust exposed coal mines workers, current work situations should be improved according to the main influencing factors.
