Prevalence of fatty liver among employees of an enterprise in Shenzhen city

Objective To explore the prevalence and risk factors of fatty liver among employees of an enterprise in Shenzhen city.Methods The check-up data including physical examination,bio-chemical inspection and ultrasonic examination of 1 612 employees from an enterprise in Shenzhen city were analyzed.Results The prevalence of fatty liver was 32.5% in the employees.The body mass index(27.83±3.53),waist circumference(92.09±8.64 cm),systolic blood pressure(128.99±13.73 mmHg),diastolic blood pressure (82.49±11.39 mmHg),total cholesterol (5.41±1.00 mmol/L),triglyceride(2.53±2.20 mmol/L),low-density lipoprotein(3.43±0.81 mmol/L),fasting blood glucose(5.28±1.31 mmol/L),glutamic-pyruvic transaminase(45.83±31.07 U/L),and uric acid(453.51±89.39 μmol/L) in the fatty liver group were all significantly higher than those in the control group,but the high-density lipoprotein(1.06±0.21 mmol/L) level was lower in the fatty liver group(P< 0.01for all).Conclusion There is a high prevalence of fatty liver among the employees of an enterprise in Shenzhen.Many risk factors are associated with fatty liver.It is necessary to take comprehensive prevention and control measures among the employees.
