Abstract
Objective To explore the relationship between career decision-making self-efficacy and attributional style among university students from countryside. Methods Scale of Career Decision-Making Self-Efficacy for University Students,Internality,Powerful Others, and Chance Scale were used for examining 248 university students from countryside and 170 from the urban. Results There were no differences in career decision-making self-efficacy between the university students from countryside and those from the urban(t=0.223-0.772,P>0.05).The scores of the students of liberal arts were higher than those of science in self-evaluation,information gathering, and problem solving(t=2.182,t=2.314,t=2.513;P<0.05 for all). The scores for self-evaluation and information gathering in sophomores were significantly higher than those of freshmen and seniors(P<0.05).Correlative analyses showed that career decision-making self-efficacy was positively correlated with internal control significantly(P<0.01),while inversely correlated with external control significantly(P<0.01).Internal control and external control were significant predictors of career decision-making self-efficacy(P<0.001).Conclusion Attributional style plays an important role in career decision-making self-efficacy.
