Participation status of commercial health insurance among residents of Changchun city

ObjectiveTo examine the cognition and acceptance of commercial health insurance and medical insurance coverage among residents in Changchun city,and to provide evidence for the improvement of commercial health insurance.MethodsWith multi-stage randomized sampling,the participants were selected and surveyed with a questionnaire.Results Among 936 participants surveyed,the coverage rate of commercial health insurance was 14.10% (132/936).The majority of participants with the comercial health insurance was at the ages of 41-60 years(62.12%,82/132)and with the annual income of more than 100 thousands yuan RMB(62.88%,83/132).ConclusionThe complex of claim process, lack of insurance knowledge,and high insurance expense are the barriers for the development of commercial health insurance.
