Prevalence of sub-health and its influencing factors in residents of Suzhou city

ObjectiveTo study the prevalence and impact factors of sub-health among residents of Suzhou city and to provide basis for the prevention and control of sub-health.MethodsCross-sectional survey was adopted.Occupational cluster random sampling was used to select residents at age of 18-55 years in Suzhou city and the sub-health state rating scale from Institute of Basic Medicine,Beijing Union Medical College was used to measure sub-health condition.Variance analysis,multivariate unconditional logistic regression and other statistical methods were used in data analysis.ResultsAmong 3 180 residents surveyed,the average sub-health score was 77.31 ? 9.03 and the prevalence rate of sub-health was 23.58%(21.18% for male,25.82% for female).There were significant differences in sub-health score among residents of different gender,age,education level,marital status,occupation,residence,and alcohol consumption(P<0.05 for all).The results of unconditional logistic regression analyses showed that being female,at age of 30 years or older,alcohol drinking,being technical personnel,being student,and living alone were risk factors of sub-health,while,being worker and living with spouse were protective factors among residents in Suzhou city.ConclusionThe prevalence of sub-health in residents of Suzhou city is low,but with the economic development,the prevalence could increase,and effective measures to prevent and control the occurrence of sub-health should be promoted.
