Prevalence and risk factors of early repolarization syndrome among rural residents in Yiling area of Yichang city, Hubei province

ObjectiveTo examine the prevalence and influencing factors of early repolarization syndrome among rural residents in Yiling district,Yichang city,Hubei province and to provide evidence for making intervenion strategy.MethodsA questionnaire survey,physical examination,and electrocardiogram detection were conducted among 3 393 rural residents selected with stratified cluster sampling.ResultsThe prevalence of early repolarization syndrome was 10.17%(12.94% for the male and 8.19% for the female).Multivariate analyses showed that male gender,the frequency of weekly exercise,current smoking,and the amount of tea consumption per month were the potential risk factors for early repolarization syndrome.ConclusionThe relevant rate of early repolarization among residents in Yiling district is high and gender,physical exercise,and amount of cigarette smoking and alcohol consumption are major influencing factors of the disease.
