Quality of life among undergraduates in Haikou under construction of Hainan international tourist island

ObjectiveTo assess the quality of life among undergraduates under the background of Hainan international tourist island construction in Haikou municipality. MethodsThe quality of life and its influencing factors were investigated with World Health Organization Quality of Life Scale Abbreviated Version (WHOQOL-BREF) among 1 023 undergraduates in 3 universities in Haikou municipality. ResultsAmong the undergraduates,the scores of quality of life,health status,physical domain,psychological domain,social relation,and environment were 3.19?1.41,3.37?1.63,51.05?18.31,57.54?23.75,63.06?27.71,and 52.15?24.81,respectively.The male had a higher total score than the female (3.23?1.14 vs 3.09?1.09).The undergraduates with a love affair or without history of love affair had a lower total score than those with love affair experience before (3.25?1.55,3.12?1.11 vs 3.32?1.53).The undergraduates with maintenance of 450 RMB yuan or more per month had a siginificant higher total score than those with the maintenance less than 450 RMB yuan per month (P<0.001). ConclusionThe life quality of college students is influenced by gender,family background,living cost,and amativeness status and the interventions should be focused on these factors.
