Status of physical examination and its related determinants among residents in Zhuzhou city

  • ObjectiveTo explore the status of physical examination and influence factors among the residents in Zhuzhou city. MethodsWith multi-stage stratified random sampling,we selected 2 316 people from 1 000 families in four districts of Zhuzhou city to collect information about phiysical examination by a questionnaire survey. ResultsThe total physical examination rate was 45.1% in previous one year.The physical examination rate was significantly different among the residents of different districts,age,marital status,educational level,occupation,personal average income per year,whether participating in medical insurance,and whether having hypertension or diabetes(P=0.000).The physical examination rate was 52.2% for the residents aged 65 years or above,57.2% for those with education of college or higher,61.7% for white collar worker,48.2% for the residents with medical insurence,58.0% for those with hypertension,and 65.3% for those with diabetes,respectively.The logistic analyses displayed that the influence factors of taking physical examination were residential area,education level,occupation,whether participating in medical insurance,average income per capita in the past year,and whether having hypertension or diabetes. ConclusionThe residents' physical examination rate was 45.1% in the past one year,with significant differences among people with different characteristics.And the residents' physical examination rate can be improved through the promotion of health education,increasing residents' income,expanding medical insurance coverage,as well as strengthening the screening of chronic disease.
