Cognition of and attitude towards organ donation among urban residents in Jinan city

Objective To explore current situation of cognition of and attitude towards organ donation among urban residents in Ji'nan city.Methods A total of 400 urban residents in Ji'nan city were investigated with a questionnaire survey.Results Among the respondents, 46% reported organ donation intention.The cognitive level of organ donation in well educated young people was higher than other people obviously.Only 15.3% of the respondents understood the relevant policies.The proportions of the respondents having good knowledge about organ donation through news reports, public service advertizements, and introductions of relatives or friends were 9.6%, 7.2%, and 19.6%, respectively.Conclusion The cognition and intention of organ donation in urban residents should be promoted.
