Associations of KIAA1199 expression with clinicopathological features and prognosis in colorectal adenocarcinoma patients

  • Objective To investigate correlations between KIAA1199 expression and clinicopathological features and prognosis in colorectal adenocarcinoma patients. Methods Real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction(qPCR)was applied to detect the KIAA1199 mRNA expression levels in resected samaples of colorectal adenocarcinoma and the normal tissue adjacent to the carcinoma.Immunohistochemistry(IHC)was used to detect the KIAA1199 expression levels in paraffin blocks from the patients with colorectal adenocarcinoma.Kaplan-Meier survival curve was applied to analyze the correlation between KIAA1199 expression and survival of colorectal adenocarcinoma patients. Results KIAA1199 mRNA expression level of colorectal adenocarcinoma(2-△△Ct= 42.410 6 ± 1.060 5)was significantly higher than that of the normal tissue adjacent to the carcinoma(2-△△Ct=1)(P<0.01)and was correlated with the age of the patients, lymph node and tumor-node-metastasis(TNM)stage(P<0.01)and negatively correlated with survival time(P<0.01).IHC results showed that KIAA1199 protein expression levels of colorectal adenocarcinoma(83/100, 83.00%)was significantly higher than that of the normal tissue adjacent to the carcinoma(P<0.01)and was positively correlated with the invasion depth of primary tumor and TNM stage(P<0.01), and negatively correlated with survival time of the patients(P<0.01).Conclusion KIAA1199 can be considered as a valuable marker for the assessment of progression and prognosis of colorectal adenocarcinoma.
