Abstract
Objective To analyze current status of quality of life and its association with human immuedeficiency virus/accquired immunodefficiency syndrom(HIV/AIDS) knowledge and behaviors among female sex workers(FSWs)and to provide references for comprehensive intervention on HIV/AIDS.Methods A total of 600 FSWs,recruited with multiple stage cluster sampling from Minhang district of Shanghai, were interviewed.Quality of life among the FSWs was evaluated with World Health Organization Quality of Life-Short Form(WHOQOL-BREF).Results For 596 eligible participants, the scores of physio-domain,psychi-domain,social relationship domain, and environmental factor domain were 66.9±12.3,57.0±13.6,56.6±13.5,and 51.0±12.6,respectively.The scores of all the four quality of life domains were positively correlated with HIV/AIDS knowledge awareness rate(P<0.05),and the scores of physio-domain,psychi-domain and social relationship domain were positively correlated with condom usage(P<0.05).Conclusion FSWs in Shanghai still had some misconceptions regarding HIV/AIDS knowledge and had a relatively poor quality of life. The quality of life is associated with HIV/AIDS knowledge and risk behaviors.
