Abstract
Objective To study the the happiness index and its influence factors among Chinese abroad in Congo(Kinshasa)and to provide references for the improvement of happiness in the population.Methods A total of 515 Chinese abroad in Congo(Kinshasa) were recruited and divided into three groups: professional personnel,staff in Chinese institutions,and businessmen.General Well-Being Schedule(GWB) and Generic Quality of Life Inventory-74(GQOLI-74) were used in the study.Results The staff in Chinese institutions had the highest happiness index value(109.96±8.49),the professional personnel had the lowest value(91.97±6.75),and the businessmen had a moderate value(97.53+97.53).Correlation and multiple stepwise regression analyses showed that the main influence factors of happiness index were mental tension and entertainment in spare time among the professional personnel(P <0.001),marriage,familial environment,sleeping and self-perceived vigor among staff in Chinese institutions(P <0.001),and living condition,living environment,social support and interpersonal skill among the businessmen(P <0.001).Conclusion The happiness index is affected by multiple factors among Chinese abroad in Congo(Kinshasa) and specific concerns should be taken for intervention among different populations in the country.
