Abstract
ObjectiveTo study the incidence of work-related diseases and its influencing factors among greenhouse-workers engaged in vegetable production.MethodsMulti-stage stratified cluster sampling was used to select 1 279 greenhouse-workers in Shouguang city of Shandong province.The data collected was processed with Epi Data 3.1 and analysed with SPSS 18.0.ResultsAmong the greenhouse-workers,the incidence of musculoskeletal diseases and allergic diseases were 77.1% and 27.1%,respectively.For the musculoskeletal pain,the top three parts of body were low back(70.8%),knee(44.2%)and neck(27.0%);the top three allergic symptoms were skin itching(16.3%),cough(11.4%)and dyspnea(7.9%).Multivariate logistic regression analyses showed that gender,age,alcohol consumption,and the annual work time related to musculoskeletal pain;sex and greenhouse working time per day related to allergic symptoms.ConclusionThe main health problems of greenhouse-workers in Shouguang city are musculoskeletal diseases and allergic diseases.
