Abstract
ObjectiveTo explore influential factors of diabetic peripheral neuropathy(DPN) and to provide evidences for clinical treatment and prevention of DPN.MethodsFrom May 2012 through May 2014,128 cases of type 2 diabetes were enrolled randomly from the endocrine department of a hospital. The patients were divided into DPN group(51) and non-DPN group(77)according to peripheral neuropathy. The basic clinical data of the cases were collected and compared between two groups to analyze the influential factors of DPN.ResultsThe prevalence of DPN was 39.8% among the 128 patients.Age,duration of diabetes, body mass index(BMI),smoking, physical exercise, systolic blood pressure, fasting plasma glucose(FPG),2-hour postprandial plasma glucose(2hPG),glycosylated hemoglobin(HbA1c),fasting plasma insulin(FINS),2-hour postprandial insulin(2hINS),fasting C peptide(FC-P),and 2-hour postprandial C peptide(2hC-P) were significantly different between the two groups(P<0.05).Multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed that duration of diabetes,smoking,HbA1c,BMI,and 2hPG were positively correlated with DPN prevalence and were independent risk factors of DPN; whereas 2hC-P was negatively correlated with DPN prevalence and was an independent protective factor of DPN.ConclusionThe occurrence of DPN is high in patients with type 2 diabetes. The duration of diabetes,smoking,HbA1c,BMI,2hPG,and 2hC-P are influential factors of DPN.
