Abstract
Objective To assess current status of pre-hypertension and its risk factors among residents in Changchun city and to provide references for prevention and control of hypertension. Methods With stratified cluster random sampling,296 residents aged ≥18 years were selected for a questionnaire survey, physical examination and laboratory tests. The prevalence rate of pre-hypertension and hypertension were calculated and the risk factors of pre-hypertension were analyzed with multivariate logistic regression analysis. Results The overall prevalence rate of hypertension was 43.19% and the prevalence rate of pre-hypertension was 40.75%.There were significant differences in the prevalence rate of pre-hypertension among the residents of different gender, age, education level, marital status, body mass index(BMI),smoking status, status of hyperglycemia, hyperlipidemia, and abdominal obesity(allP < 0.05).The results of multivariate logistic regression analysis indicated that male,at the age of ≥30 years, married, with a BMI of ≥24.0 kg/m2,and being hyperlipemia were risk factors for pre-hypertension among the residents. Conclusion The prevalence rate of pre-hypertension is high and influenced by many factors among the residents in Changchun city, suggesting lifestyle intervention on pre-hypertension should be strengthened to prevent the occurrence of hypertension in the population.
