Satisfaction to basic health insurance for urban residents and its influencing factors among non-employee residents in Shenyang city

  • Objective To examine the satisfaction to basic health insurance for urban residents and its influencing factors among non-employee residents in Shenyang city.Methods We selected 1 196 non-employee residents with stratified random sampling for a questionnaire survey on satisfaction to basic health insurance for urban residents and used descriptive analysis,chi-square test,and binary logistic regression in data analyses.Results Of the participants,86.3%were generally satisfied to basic health insurance for urban residents and there were significant differences in the percentages among the participants of different age,education level,and self-reported health status (all P < 0.01).The results of binary logistic regression revealed that the satisfaction to medical service quality of hospitals at city and upper level (odds ratioOR=3.120,95%confidence interval95%CI:1.834-5.307),community healthcare service (OR=2.361,95%CI:1.384-4.027),reimbursement procedures (OR=1.905,95%CI:1.121-3.237),reimbursement proportion (OR=5.612,95%CI:3.522-8.944),and reimbursing all or most part of medical expenses by the insurance system (OR=6.684,95%CI:3.217-13.888)were risk factors for the satisfaction to basic health insurance for urban residents.Conclusion The satisfaction to basic health insurance for urban residents is at an ordinary level and main influencing factors for the satisfaction include medical service quality of relevant institutions,reimbursement procedure,proportion,and scope among non-employee residents in Shenyang city.
