Reliability and validity of the Communities Advancing Resilience Toolkit (CART) Chinese version

  • Objective To evaluate the reliability and validity of the Communities Advancing Resilience Toolkit (CART) Chinese version. Methods The CART was translated into Chinese first and then performance indicators were selected after expert group discussion and preliminary experiments to construct the CART of Chinese version (CART-C).Totally 880 urban community residents aged 15 years and above were recruited in Sichuan province and surveyed with the CART-C.Cronbach's alpha coefficient and factor analysis method were adopted to evaluate the reliability and validity of the CART-C.Results The overall Cronbach's alpha coefficient of the CART-C was 0.966 and the Cronbach's alpha coefficients for all dimensions of the CART-C were between 0.888 and 0.952; the Spearman-Brown coefficient was 0.895 and the Guttman split-half coefficient was 0.890, suggesting a good internal consistency of the CART-C.Confirmatory factor analysis results showed that for the CART-C,the goodness of fit index was greater than 0.9 (0.943); the root mean square error of approximation (RMSEA) was less than 0.05 (0.043),indicating a good fitting and a good structure validity of the CART-C.Conclusion The established CART-C is of good reliability and validity and could be used to evaluate community resilience in among Chinese adult residents.
