Evaluation on effect of different peptone media on growth of cultured califorms

Objective To evaluate the effect of different peptone media on the growth of cultured coliforms for selecting appropriate materials used in medium for rapid culturing of coliforms.Methods Growth curves of representative coliform strains cultured with different types of peptone medium were obtained through analyzing logarithmic growth phase with Bioscreen.Results Polypeptone and bacto tryptose showed better effect on the growth of all 4 tested strains among 8 tested peptones,with the same maximum absorbance value of 1.18 after 24 hour's culture in both cultures with different peptones and prepared media with those peptones.Conclusion The effect of various peptones on the growth of coliforms is different and growth curve analysis could be used in the selection of medium material for coliforms culture.
