Current development of polysaccharides from edible and medicinal polypores

Edible and medicinal polypores (EMP) have been widely used as traditional and folk medicines for the treatment of various diseases in Asian and European countries.Polysaccharide is considered as one of the main bioactive substances in EMP.It has been demonstrated that the polypores polysaccharides (PPs) have multiple bioactivities in life process and an immense potential in healthcare by extensive research in the last decade.This review describes most recent development of the PPs in the aspects of bioactivities,isolation processes and structural features,and also introduces structure-activity relationships and states a view for future direction.
