Advances in researches on relationship between snack consumption and metabolic disease

  • To investigate the association of snack consumption with metabolic diseases such as overweight/obesity,type 2 diabetes,hypertension.Searches on relevant cross-sectional,longitudinal,and intervention studies were carried out through PubMed,China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI),and Wanfang database.Snack consumption has increased and became a important part of diet globally.A number of studies revealed that snack consumption (frequency and selection of snacks) associated with the prevalence of metabolic diseases such as overweight and obesity but the accuracy and universality of the association need to be ascertained.
