Satisfaction to and requirement for improvement in refresher training among refresher doctors in a tertiary general hospital

  • Objective To examine the satisfaction to refresher training and the requirement for the improvement in the training among refresher doctors in tertiary general hospitals and to provide evidences for developing strategies on efficient refresher training programs.Methods Using a self designed questionnaire and cluster sampling,we conducted a survey among 1 206 doctors having completed their refresher training programs in a tertiary general hospital in Beijing from January 2014 through December 201.Chi-square test was used to assess the influences of various factors on the implementation and required improvement of refresher trainings.Results Totally 1 182 (98%) eligible questionnaires were collected.The participants reported high satisfaction ratios for the way of allowance distribution (91.71%),the content and pattern of refresher training (98.56%),and the catering service in hospital canteens (93.90%).The improvement requirements for the implementation of training plan,the improvement in ability of clinical diagnosis and treatment,and providing accommodation were reported by 50.00%,32.70%,and 54.06% of the participants.The participants’ satisfaction to and improvement requirement for refresher training differed significantly by their professional title,education background,working experience,and the level of the hospital they worked in (P<0.05 for all).Conclusion The overall satisfaction to refresher training is at a high level and there are requirements for improving various aspects of refresher training among refresher doctors; the satisfaction and the requirements are influenced mainly by refresher doctors’ professional title,education background,working experience,and the level of the hospital they worked in.
