A case-control study of effect of CYP1A1 MspI polymorphisms on risk of histologic types of lung cancer

  •   Objective   To investigate the correlation of the genetic polymorphisms with CYP1A1 MspI with the risk of histologic types of lung cancer.
      Methods   Genotype frequencies of CYP1A1 MspI analyzed by PCR based RELP in 91 lungcancer and 138 controls.
      Results   The m2m2 gentype of CYP1A1 and the strong association for squamous cell carcinoma were observed(OR=2.72, P=0.011).There was no association observed between the other genotypes of CYP1A1 and squamous cell carcinoma and adenocarcinoma.Stratified analysis by smoking showed that there was no association observed between the genotypes of CYP1A1, and both squamous cell carcinoma and adenocarcinoma.But to the non-smoking, the m1m2 genotype of CYP1A1 maybe a protection factor(OR=0.13, P=0.033).However, stratified analysis by alcohol drinking suggested that m2m2 genotype of CYP1A1 was related to squamous cell carcinoma in the alcohol drinker(OR=4.32, P=0.048), and m1, m2 genotype of CYP1A1 was related to adenocarcinoma(OR=22.00, P=0.009).
      Conclusion   The m2m2 genotype of CYP1A1 is a susceptibility factor of lung cancer.
