Survey on AIDS knowledge and attitude among recreation practitioners in Shenzhen city

  •   Objective  To understand the know ledge level and correlated attitude towards AIDS in recreation practitioners, to discuss the influential factors and to identify current strategy on AIDS health education for this population.
      Methods  Questionnaire practitioner in recreation sites by g roup sampling method.
      Results  The ratio of people with integral AIDS information was 63.4 %, 90% of w ho were surveved understand the three major AIDS transmission routes, but the identification of non-effective transmission routes was not clear; most of them were compo sed with positive attitude, 82% thought that government should streng then AIDS prevention and control, 91.4% understand that AIDS was a social problem and need everyone' s attention; knowledge level was influenced by such factors as age, education level, occupation time in Shenzhen and major growing field.A ttitude formation was affected by age, marriage, education level, work place, and major grow ing field.
      Conclusion  AIDS health education should focus on those people who are young, still with a short living period in Shenzhen, and with poor education or come from rural area; emphasize using activated panel to explain the information that daily contact is not an effective transmission route.
