Meta-analysis on risk factors of SARS patients

  Objective   To provide scientific reference basis for preventing and controlling SARS epidemic and to treat clinical patients better by means of analysis of risk factors of SARS.

  Methods   The ORs and 95% CIs of patients in each papers were counted after referring to the published papers on SARS risk factors or and death analysis.T test was used for the measurement data with the pooled standard deviation, the pooled standard error, and the homogeneity test.Meta-analysis on the risk factors of SARS patients was carried out in comprehensive data.

  Results   The complication, the basic disease age ≥50, the male and the quantitatively decreasing in sub-groups of lymphocyte(CD8₊, CD3₊, CD4₊)were also the risk factors of SARS death.

  Conclusion   SARS infection could obviously impair the human immune-function, which was shown especially in the older and the basic disease.Those special cohorts mostly with severely infection might associated with the function depress of human cytoimmune.
