Relationship between social support and quality of life in patients with cancer

  Objective   To discuss the relationship between social support and quality of life in patients with cancer, and confirm the importance of social support which can improve their quality of life.

  Methods   Through stratified sampling to make asessment on 352 patients with cancer by using World Health Organization Quality of Life with 100 question(WHOQOL^-100)and Social Support Rating Scale(SSRS).

  Results   Compared with the control group, the patient with cancer had lower score in every aspect of life qulity, and there was remarkable positive relatonship between social support and qulity of life.

  Conclusion   Social support can be as one of effective psychological intervention methods to help patients with cancer to build self-confidence and keep optimistic mood for their life quality improved.
