Analysis on concentrations of atmospheric particles and PAHs/NPAHs in Fushun

  •   Objective   To explore the concentrations, distributions and variations of particles, including Total Suspended Particulates(TSP), Particulate matter(PM10), Fine particulate matter(PM2.5)and Super fine particulate matter(PM10), Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons(PAHs)and Nitro-Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons(NPAHs)in Fushun, P.R.China.
      Methods  On the same wind direction, three primary schools in different distance from a sever air pollution's industry enterprise were selected for monitoring particles in urban area.Atmospheric particulates were measured by particle diameters in each season a year around by means of a low-volume air sampler, Anderson Type, in each school at the same time.Characteristics of hazardous components of atmospheric particulates, PAHs, NPAHs were detected by HPLC/FLD and HPLC/CLD.
      Results  TSP was 1.28-1.54 times higher in the winter and spring, PM10 was 1.07-2.22 times higher than that of the National Air Quality Standards of China(GB3095-1996).PM2.5 was 3.84-7.76 times higher than that of the EPA's standards of USA, even almost every measured concentration of PM2.5 was over the limited value of the day's average.Be consistent with the large amount of coal be used for heating in winter, the concentrations of Particles in winter were higher than those of other seasons.9 kinds of PAHs and 12 kinds of NPAHs in the particles were detected.The concentrations of BbF, Chr, Flu and 2NF(in Winter), 2NP(in Summer)were times higher than others.The particles whose diameter were less than 211 μm account for 67.23%, 79.73% of the PAHs and NPAHs in Fushun.
      Conclusion   The concentrations of atmospheric particles and PAHs/NPAHs in Fushun were more higher than the standards o f China and USA, especially PM10; PM2.5.
