Inhibitory effects of ASA on evolution of preneoplastic lesion into nodules in rat hepatocarcinogenesis

  •   Objective   To investigate inhibitory effects of aspirin(ASA)on the evolution of preneoplastic foci into nodules in rat liver.
Methods   To make of producing preneoplastic foci, then rats bearing foci were given diets containing 1%、0.75% ASA with or without 0.05% phenobarbital(PB), 0.05% PB alone and basal diet for 9 weeks. Liver slices made GGT staining and HE staining.
Results   Both doses ASA either with or without PB accelerated the remodeling of preneoplastic foci, significantly decreased the numbers of persistent nodules and hyperplasticc nodules.
Conclusion   Both doses ASA inhibited the evolution of preneoplastic foci into nodules in rat liver with or without PB exposure.
