Cytotoxicity of arsenic to lymphocytes of rats and antagonism of antioxidant

  •   Objective   To investigate the effect of different concentrations of sodium arsenite on the survival of the lymphocytes of rats cultured in vitro and the antagonism of sodium selenlite and ascorbic acid.
Methods   The lymphocytes of rats were isolated from the peripheral blood and cultured with agents under 37, the survival of lymphocytes was determined by the percents of reduced AlamarBlue.
Results   The rates of reduced AlamarBlue in sodium arsenite above 5μmol/L were significantly higher than the controls and with dose-response relation. After pretreatment of sodium selenite and ascorbic acid for 24 hours, the rates of reduced A lamarBlue in sodiumarsenite of 10μmol/L increased accordingly.
Conclusion   Sodium arsenite can inhibit the survival of lymphocytes of rats and the antioxidants can antagonize the cytotoxicity of arsenic.
