Objective To observe effects of lipid perox idation and superoxide dismutase of endocrine in rats chronically poisoned with low levels of lead.
Methods Forty rats were randomly divided into four groups. They received lead diets of different levels for eight weeks.Serum level of lead MDA, T-SOD, CAT, GSH-Px in blood thyroid and pancreas are measured and analysed after the rats are poisoned.
Results The levels of blood lead in all groups increased with the lead dose. The levels of MDA increased with the lead dose and were correlated positively with the levels of blood lead in the thyroid and pancreas. The levels of T-SOD and GSHPx decreased with the lead dose and were correlated negatively with the levels of blood lead in the thyroid and pancreas. The levels of CAT had no correlation with the levels of blood lead in the thyroid.
Conclusion The chronic lead poisoning increased the effect of lipid perox idation and decreased the vitality of anti-oxidase, which may be a part of some endocrine functions and the harm mechanism of histology.
