EPidemiologic Aspect of Infantile Rotavirus Enteritis in Taiyuan, 1984

From Jan to Dec 1984, 1243 feacal specimens taken from acute diarrheal infants attending Taiyuan Children's Hospital were examined by ELISA for rotavirus antigen, which was detected in 180 of these specimens with a positivity rate of 14.5%. At the same time, the detection rates were compared between rotavirus and other entero-pathogenic organism. It was shown that the total pathogen detection rate of acute infantile diarrhea was 56.6%.
