Rapid Determination of Manganese in Drinking Water at Room Temperature-Discussion of Experimental Conditions by Spectrophotometry using Potassium Periodate

Oxdizing Mn(Ⅱ) to Mn(Ⅶ) is reported using potassium pericdate in the presence of sodium pyrophosphate as complexing agent at room temperature rapidly in this paper. The mechanism of the influence of the medium acidity and complexing agent on the color rate is discussed. Analytical method established has been applied to determination of Mn in drinking waver with satisfactory results and the molar absorptivity 2100.
